Young Love

Love_heart_uidaodjsdsew Emily shared with me on Friday that she has "fallen in love" with someone in her class.  His name is Jullian and she chases him around at recess.

When I asked what she loved about him, she didn't even look up from her Nintendo DS and proclaimed, "He's hot, Mom!".

Not surprisingly, Kristen had no idea where Emily could have learned the phrase "He's hot" and used it so appropriately.

Aahhh, the joys of having a big sister.

Anybody out there?

Just curious if anyone is paying attention to this blog.  Especially family?!?!

Anyone?

I am wondering if I should keep this blog up or not and one of the things that is going to help decide is the response to this post.

If you are out there reading, please leave a comment.  It would be much appreciated.

First Day of School

Emily is now a FIRST GRADER!!  Yep, she started first grade on Monday.  She got a little nervous before going, but the end of she was excited about it and has enjoyed going the rest of the week.

Here is a recap of some of her day ...

There are more videos describing her day if you click here.

And excuse the poor table manners.  I was just happy she was sharing something about her day finally.

24:11

DSC_0008 Tony ran in his first cross country meet last Saturday.  He has been continually improving his time as he practices with the team.  He ran 3 miles in 24:11.  I was impressed considering when I ran a 5K it was somewhere around 35 minutes.  LOL

Tony is really enjoying cross country which is great to see!  Meets are every Saturday, but most are quite the drive away.  If you are interested in the schedule, please let us know.

Back to School

It is Back to School time for the kids.  Kristen and Emily start on Monday and Tony goes back on Tuesday!!

Emily went to "Meet the Teacher" tonight.  Both of us loved her teacher and the best news is that Emily is now excited to go to school on Monday and is quite bummed that tomorrow is not Monday.  Finally she is excited about school!!!!

Oh and as proof that this is the teacher for Emily - we walked into her classroom and the room is peppered with all things Disney!!  The teacher loves Disney and has decorated her room with all sorts of toys and animals from the various Disney films.  Emily was in heaven.

A New Olympic Event

I have been trying - with no success - to get Emily interested in the Olympics.  She has not taken to it, but that doesn't stop me from trying.

Tonight I wanted her to stay upstairs with me to watch some and was trying to peak her interest in the track and field hurdle race that was getting ready to run.

Me:  Don't you want to watch this race with me?  You get to watch them run really fast and jump over hurdles.

Emily:  Nah, I'm going to watch my show.

*1 minute later*

Emily, returning upstairs:  Okay, Mom.  I'll watch Olympics with you, Mom.

Me:  I am happy you changed your mind.  I think this will be fun to watch together.

Emily:  Me too.  And do they really jump over turtles?

Me:  No, honey, not turtles ... HURDLES.  See those things at the bottom of the screen?  Those are hurdles that the runners are going to jump over.

Emily:  Oh - well then never mind.

*Leaves me again, only to return immediately*

Emily:  I guess I will watch it with you anyway.

So, I got her to watch with me and got a great giggle too.

Magic Mountain Fun

I had it all planned out.  Emily, Vinnie and I were going to go play Putt-Putt at Magic Mountain and I was going to record some adorable pictures and share them with you of Emily whacking the ball ... of Vinnie hanging out in his Moby wrap.

But we arrived at Magic Mountain and I grabbed the camera out of the car only to realize that I had not put the memory card back in it.

Oh well!  We had fun, even though it was hot.  We played a quick 18 and then Emily played in the play house while I fed Vinnie.  Then Emily wanted to try out the bumper boats and she actually did a good job controlling it.  I was impressed.

All-in-all, we had a fun day!

Fly Away

Emily got some more catepillars and grew them into butterflies.  Brian video taped a bit of the release for her.

And this is why ...

DSC_0003 Nobody should ever purchase Emily another stuffed animal ever again!  These are all that she and Maddie took downstairs to play with, so it doesn't even cover all of them.

But, hey!  At least she is playing with them, right?
